Concept art for my series Cosmic Halberd, were the monster slayer Hjalte pilots a mech to fight a pit of feared sea dragons known as "The Great Firemaws".

These Firemaws give off such unnatural heat in their surroundings that they cause the water they swim in to boil, and make thundering clouds form above them.

From their nostrils and hollow horns pour thick trails of steam, and their eyes radiate with cruelty and hate.

The mech protects the slayer, as otherwise he would have exploded in a cloud of bloody steam.
